Quilt Show Fun!

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

I came home with a few ribbons today!  I don’t do that every day, so it is a thrill!  The Blackberry Jam Festival was held this weekend, with all the blackberry pie, jam, syrup, scones, treats and recipes you could hope for! AND it includes a fun judged Quilt Show put on by the host quilt guild, the Pine Needlers.  It is a fun show with a wide variety of styles included, but one thing you can always count on is the high quality of quilts.  Yes, I’m telling you, the competition is fierce, and the hand-made ribbons are spectacular! I got lucky and came home with these:

Best of Show and Best Machine Quilting, for Hidden Agenda which is currently in American Patchwork and Quilting.

Honorable Mention, for Harrington’s Guardian Stars, in the Traditional Category.

Best Use of Color, 2nd Place, entered as a collaboration with Lisa Bee Wilson! (I’ll tell you more about this quilt in a future post)

Excited?  YES!  All the quilts were simply marvelous!

The Pine Needlers Quilt Guild, Lowell, Oregon

I should be taking more pictures, but at least I got these!  I’ve been able to go to the Pine Needlers Quilt Guild, it’s so fun getting to know these remarkable women!  They are fun, creative, GREAT cooks, supportive and friendly, all the things you’re likely to see in a group of quilters!  They meet once a month at the Fire Hall in Lowell.  Sometimes I just want to sit and visit with everybody, and sometimes I actually sew, hahaha!  These girls put on a fun quilt show for the Blackberry Jam festival every summer, complete with a fantastic raffle quilt. (I have tickets if you’re interested).  ALL the proceeds go back into the community, they don’t keep a penny for themselves, so generous!  Next time I go I’ll get a pic of their banner quilt for you to see. You may remember that I was honored to receive a couple of ribbons at their show last summer, and you can read more about that here.  The ribbons are handmade, I’m so proud of them!

Best of Show & and Best Machine Quilting!

The Blackberry Jam is a fun festival in Lowell, Oregon.  It’s a fun couple of days, and they put on the sweetest quilt show EVER at the grange hall!  My friends at the Pine Needlers Guild organize and run the show.  I ‘happened’ to enter a quilt I had done as a collaborative work with my friend Pam.  Now, here’s the deal:  I don’t really enter shows much, and especially not because I think I should win.  I just enter because I know I make interesting quilts, and people like to see them!  So, as I arrived to see the show, Lisa grabbed me and we went running into the next room to see that I had won these fantastic ribbons!  What made it so special is that the ribbons are hand made and absolutily beautiful!  I wanted to give the Best of Show ribbon to Pam and keep the Best Machine Quilting ribbon, but she wants me to have BOTH!  Very generous!  Hmmm, wonder what we should enter next year…..!
