Congratulations to Sheryl K.!! She was in my class at A Quilter’s Affair in July, and entered her Color Wheel Footstool into her local county fair, taking Best of Show! Not surprising to me, as the fabric choices and construction are perfection. What a way to celebrate the end of summer with a great project!
You can get a kit for the Color Wheel Footstool in my SHOP, and then watch the video tutorial about foundation piecing the strips. It is wonderful to see this three dimensional project blossom!
What a wonderful week in Sisters, Oregon of teaching, special events, meeting up with old friends and finding some new friends too! I’m in awe and grateful for the experience in such a wonderful setting. The students were absolutely wonderful, making great progress on their projects each day. It was fun to meet up with several later in the week as they let me know that they had finished their quilts! I had several groups attending my classes who came together including a set of sisters I’ll never forget as well as a set of Grandmother/Mom/daughter who spent a remarkable day together with me. My youngest student is pictured above, a teenager who did an outstanding job on a complicated pattern! The middle pic is a fun and colorful version of my Hot Ziggidy! pattern from Friday’s class. The pic of me is from the instructor’s show and tell on Thursday night. I decided to show a footstool instead of a quilt!
If you’re like me, you’re planning your projects for the next few months! I had some ideas for great gift projects that didn’t get past the drawing board before Christmas! Getting a jump start on those, as well as some new designs that I’ve saved for winter will be fun. My husband and I drove over to Sisters on Friday so I could see what’s new at the Stitchin’ Post. The shop there is always inspiring, and of course I know a few of the employees so it’s a fun reunion too! I picked up some “yardage” for two projects. On the way home we stopped at the Lodge at Suttle Lake for a wonderful late lunch. It was over 50 degrees! Such a beautiful sunny day in the mountains, especially compared to the fog we’ve had in the valley. There was a nice breeze, hence, the flying hair in the photo! I have a footstool class coming up at Piece by Piece at the end of January, so I needed to order supplies. They are all in now, and ready to ship out to those of you who live far away. Some of you know that when you get the kit through the mail it comes with a NINE page instruction booklet that is filled with pictures of the process so there’s no question that you’ll be able to finish the project! You can order one here!
