Yay!  It’s out there in stores now!  Quilts and More, one of my all-time favorite magazines includes one of my quilt designs for this, the Summer 2019 issue.  They sell fast, so be sure to get your soon.  So, why is this one of my favorites?  There is a huge variety of quilt projects, including bags, pillows, table runners as well as fun quilts in all sizes.

You know, I DO love a project!  So the crafty inspiration really gives me a boost.  I actually try to make at least one thing from every magazine I bring home, or at least use the inspiration for a new design of my own.

It’s not too late! Quilts and More Still Available!

There’s still time to pick up your copy of Quilts and More, Summer 2018.  My quilt, Block Party is on the cover, and it is full of fun projects, large and small.  I plan to do some embroidery this summer inspired by this magazine!

Check out your local bookstore, I know Barnes and Noble has it, as well as quilt shops, craft stores, grocery stores, and if you’re in the PNW check good old BiMart!

One thing I love about this magazine is the alternate color-way version that is included, and for my quilt pattern, Joanna Burgarino, Editor, made a miniature wall hanging/table topper!  Also, in the pull-out there are COLORING diagrams for each quilt included.  It gives you so much confidence when you are choosing fabrics to know how the colors work together as a whole!

So, get your copy, it’s not too late, Quilts and More, Summer 2018 will be on display until July 17th!

Something about being PUBLISHED!

I just enjoy so much seeing the story develop around a quilt!  Ideas come to life and bubble up in unexpected places!  Quilts and More has added a feature of “running with a pattern”, meaning using it again in a different size and fabric collection, giving it a second life.  In this case, Joanna Burgarino, Editor of Quilts and More, used a fun bandana fabric to make a single 24″ block that can be used as a wall hanging or table topper, much different than the original bed quilt, and a nice compliment to it as well!  I might have to make this one too!  Thanks Joanna, for taking the next step with my design!

It’s me again!

So excited to share with you my latest piece in publication! Quilts and More never disappoints, and once again the Summer 2016 issue is filled with fun projects, including mine (page 39!!)!!  I will definitely make this quilt again, as it was so enjoyable to work on, and it is even finished with big-stitch hand quilting.  The fabrics are mostly from a collection by designer Violet Craft, with a contrast red-orange by Denise Schmidt.  Hope you will love it too!

Aaaand, New Jersey is in the lead!

Just an update on Pincushion orders!  Yes, Virginia was at the front of the race, but holding steady wasn’t enough and New Jersey has taken the lead!  Oklahoma, North Carolina, Connecticut, and Massachusetts are showing well!  Thanks to my recent article in Quilts and More, I appreciate all of you checking out my site, and my shop page.  Be sure to contact me directly if you need more, as I can save you some shipping costs by bundling multiples together!

In the meantime, I felt like I just HAD to finish something and didn’t have a project even close, but LOTS needing more hands-on time than is possible with my regular job, home responsibilities and a holiday looming LARGE.  So!  Since I needed to test the pattern for a Christmas project, I was able to put together a fun 24″ x 42″ table runner on Sunday.  Now, don’t get me wrong, it’s not quilted yet, but I’m looking forward to that since there is a lot of background negative space where the quilting will show nicely.  More later when I get to that!  This is a project I’m preparing for P&B Textiles, one of the many fun patterns they give away on their web site!

If you haven’t seen it yet, run out and get the latest issue, Winter 2014 of Quilts and More!  Then turn to page 10 to find my Pincushion Kit featured in the HOT STUFF review.  It includes a fun pic of some  of my finished pincushions, and one of the components that are included in the kit.  It will direct you RIGHT HERE to my site so you can find out more!  These little guys are such a fast and fun project that you’ll soon have a list of people you want to make them for, or on second thought, maybe give the kit as a gift so the recipients can personalize it themselves!  You can see my neice Beret made one with me when she was only seven!

Check my shop page to purchase one, or email me for multiple orders!

Cozy Flannel Quilts!

wintergreen quiltJust noticed that All People Quilt was featuring some cozy flannel quilts on their weekly newsletter today! I thought I should check it out, and what did I find but MY QUILT Wintergreen featured on the first page! What fun to see it again in a wonderful setting. This quilt is on my guest bed right now, awaiting our company for Christmas. It is made of flannel, and homespun, both plaids and prints, and even a stripe thrown in for good measure! I used a shot cotton backing as I wanted to keep it light, but I used a wool batting for the warmth. The quilting is pure fun: a large paisley in the plain blocks with contrasting thread so it would show against the print, and horizontal zig-zags in the background. My good friends helped me meet the deadline: Wendy Fast pieced the quilt top and Lisa Bee Wilson of Towerhouse Quilts did the quilting on this one. It’s fairly loosely quilted so the loft of the wool is maintained, and believe me, this is a cozy one. All People Quilt is offering it as a free download now, but originally it was published in “Quilts and More“.
I hope you will send me a pic when you finish yours!
