And…….for the WIN!

Congratulations to Sheryl K.!! She was in my class at A Quilter’s Affair in July, and entered her Color Wheel Footstool into her local county fair, taking Best of Show!  Not surprising to me, as the fabric choices and construction are perfection.  What a way to celebrate the end of summer with a great project!

You can get a kit for the Color Wheel Footstool in my SHOP, and then watch the video tutorial about foundation piecing the strips.  It is wonderful to see this three dimensional project blossom!

Next Footstool Class: Bandon, Oregon!

That’s right! I’m headed back to see all my coastie buddies!  I’ll be at Forget Me Knots in Bandon, Oregon with Michelle and her crew.  Such a wonderful shop/retreat center and in a great location.  I think next Saturday 1/14/17, will be the perfect day to start a footstool!

Here’s what happens: The class is taught in two parts. The first class on the 14th, you will learn how to foundation piece the panels used to make the footstool “upholstery”.  By the end of class you’ll be totally ready to finish the homework and come back in two weeks. Then, on the 28th we will get together again to build the footstool! I bring all the tools and the kits.  It is a remarkable day as these wonderful pieces of fabric blossom into a finished footstool!  It is so fun to see all the happy faces at the end of class.

Call Michelle to reserve your spot: 541 347-9021

If you can’t make the class, or live in another location I’d love to come to YOU!  You can also see my SHOP page to purchase a kit and I can send it off tomorrow!

Don’t forget to follow me! See the Bloglovin button in the upper right corner.

Thinking Christmas!

Happy December to one and all!

I have lots of Color Wheel Pincushion Kits and Color Wheel Footstool Kits ready to ship out for those of you who love to give handmade gifts as much as I do! I can usually ship the same day, or the next day at the latest.  There’s still time to finish either (or both) of these projects, and wouldn’t it be a wonderful surprise for your special someone!  Order from my SHOP page, and it’s all yours!

I’ve been working on several Christmas projects; crayon holders with a little doodle sketch book included for the little ones, zipper pouches for the medium ones and some embroidery, pincushions and footstools for the big ones!  I think I have just enough time to finish them without staying up ’til 1am too many nights!

Raining Footstools!

It is so fun to see my footstool kits getting shipped off all over the country, and internationally as well!  I recently had the great pleasure of working with Vanessa Christensen of V & Co., to put together a footstool for her booth at Fall Market!  We used a jelly roll of her SPECTACULAR Ombre fabric for a footstool and a companion pincushion. She’s located in the Moda–Show Me The Moda– booth!  I hope you’ll swing by to visit with her and see the footstool, and pincushion I made for her!  Check my SHOP page if you want to order one for yourself!

I also just have to brag about one of my very generouscustomers who purchased a footstool kit for her dear friend in England.  Kathy, what a wonderful friend you are, and Elizabeth, you are going to get such a surprise!  Now, it WAS shipped to England, and her name IS Elizabeth–could it be?  Yes??!!  Maybe!!??  I think the Queen would look so cute with her feet up on one of my footstools, but I’ll have to let you all know later if it was her or not!

Footstool Upcycle!

How much do you LOVE this footstool made by my friend Pam!!!!  I can’t get over the sophisticated look she got out of some recycled sweaters!  Here’s what happened: A VERY talented group of women in Seattle found a wonderful way to support Green Eileen, by participating in the Chop Challenge!  The challenge is to create an auction  piece by using materials which have been provided from donated clothing.  Please go to the Green Eileen website to find out more, and to see the events coming up soon in the Seattle area, including the “Chop Challenge” on October 3rd from 5-8pm.

In the meantime, let me explain that Pam used her creativity, imagination, and one of my footstool kits to make this piece for the auction!  I don’t know how she will be able to give it up! Seriously!!  I may have to copy her idea! You can too, by ordering a kit from my “Shop” page, and adding your own collection of recycled materials!

International shipping for Footstool Kits!

I have finally been able to find a reasonable price for international shipping, at least for Canada, the UK and Australia–where I’ve had inquiries.  I will be able to add these into the shop buy buttons soon, but in the meantime, if you want to shoot me an email I’d be happy to answer any questions!  There is a SIGNIFICANT price break for shipping two kits, so hopefully you will have a friend who’s interested too!

Openings in the Footstool Class!

Hey peeps!  I just heard through the grapevine, or was it email (?) that there are still a couple openings in my next Colorwheel Footstool class!  NOW IS YOUR CHANCE!   Here are your instructions:

1.  Call or go over to Piece By Piece Fabrics.

2.  Sign up for the class scheduled for Saturday April 4th and Saturday April 18th from 10:30-1:30.

We will have more fun than a barrel of monkeys, and you will have a finished footstool to cherish or to give away.  I’ve made so many now, I almost think I should make one for every quilt.  Seeing the different fabric collections and artistic choices for the feet and the tufting button is always inspiring!

Hope you can join in the fun!

Footstool Class? Check!

A fun group of girls and I just finished the latest Footstool Class at Piece By Piece Fabrics in Eugene!  This class had no problems diving in with both feet and sewing up a storm!  They easily finished the  “Part One” class, learning how to foundation piece the panels that eventually become the upholstery for their own amazing footstool.  “Part Two” brought us together again, and in about 2 hours we were taking pics of the finished projects!  I LOVE to see the fabric combinations come together, the button choices and the embellishments.  What fun to have a student use Guatamalen fabrics, and then add embroidery!

Everytime I teach this class I wonder why I don’t do it more often!  Hope you can join my next class.  Shhh!  (It’s not advertised yet, but the dates will be April 4th and 18th).  The best part–everyone was saying–is taking home a finished project!  Whether you live close by, or far away you can always get the KIT, I ship them all over the country including a 9-page instruction booklet to make sure you won’t have any trouble finishing.
