Respecting copy write laws!

Some of you know I’ve been in this industry for many years, almost 2 decades now!  I’ve always done my best to be inspired by other quilters and ideas, and to ensure that my designs were uniquely mine, mine alone, and that there was no possibility that I had copied someone else’s design, especially in publishing.

To my surprise I have been alerted to a copycat of my Color Wheel Pincushion Kit.  What to do–what to do!?  I certainly can’t allow this to ruin the business I have worked to develop over the years, and so looking into it is what I will do.  I have contacted the other party, with no response.  My next step is to contact the group where the copycat pattern is being marketed. Next, I need to make my distributors aware, maybe they have an avenue to help in this situation.  I want to reassure my customers that I am doing everything I can to protect them and their investment of my kits for their shops.  Hang in there with me, and we will get this figured out!

Memories of Houston!

I experienced a few red-letter days at Houston Fall Market! It was fun, exciting and busy. My Schoolhouse presentation was to a packed house! It’s always great to see old friends and acquaintances, and of course Amy Marson, Ruthmary and Allison from my publisher C&T were on hand to help with holding up quilts and anything I needed! I also did a book signing in the C&T booth where we gave away a whole CASE of my new book, Get Addicted to Free Motion Quilting! Then I turned right around and did the same thing at the Checker booth! Fun, fun, fun! In between things, I did a spontaneous interview with Rob Appell! I don’t know how or when that will show up yet, but I’ll keep you informed.
Then of course there are the quilts! They are shown in an attached (I’ll say arena, since I don’t really know what to call it)! A HUGE place hung with AMAZING quilts, special exhibits and honorary exhibits. Wow, it took a few trips to see the whole show, and even then I felt like I had to hurry! I did get some pictures where it was allowed and will study those over the next months. I was able to talk with some friends including Valori Wells Kennedy, Rashida Coleman, Jessica Beaudet, and briefly to a new acquaintance Alex Anderson!!!!! What an experience, I am proud to be a part of this industry!
