The Scrappy Apple, Winchester, VA!

First covered button!

Kelley over at The Scrappy Apple in Winchester, VA. sent me this sweet Color Wheel Pincushion her customer  Dot S. had brought in to show her.  We were all so excited as I happened to be on the phone with Kelley at the time!  What a coincidence!  Notice, that Dot used a covered button, it’s the first time I’ve seen that, and isn’t it a good choice.  Love the batiks, and the color selection!  Kelley will be teaching a class in making the pincushions in April, and will have lots in stock, so stop by to sign up for the class, and to see that and all her other goodies!

Happy December to one and all!

I have lots of Color Wheel Pincushion Kits and Color Wheel Footstool Kits ready to ship out for those of you who love to give handmade gifts as much as I do! I can usually ship the same day, or the next day at the latest.  There’s still time to finish either (or both) of these projects, and wouldn’t it be a wonderful surprise for your special someone!  Order from my SHOP page, and it’s all yours!

I’ve been working on several Christmas projects; crayon holders with a little doodle sketch book included for the little ones, zipper pouches for the medium ones and some embroidery, pincushions and footstools for the big ones!  I think I have just enough time to finish them without staying up ’til 1am too many nights!

Raining Footstools!

It is so fun to see my footstool kits getting shipped off all over the country, and internationally as well!  I recently had the great pleasure of working with Vanessa Christensen of V & Co., to put together a footstool for her booth at Fall Market!  We used a jelly roll of her SPECTACULAR Ombre fabric for a footstool and a companion pincushion. She’s located in the Moda–Show Me The Moda– booth!  I hope you’ll swing by to visit with her and see the footstool, and pincushion I made for her!  Check my SHOP page if you want to order one for yourself!

I also just have to brag about one of my very generouscustomers who purchased a footstool kit for her dear friend in England.  Kathy, what a wonderful friend you are, and Elizabeth, you are going to get such a surprise!  Now, it WAS shipped to England, and her name IS Elizabeth–could it be?  Yes??!!  Maybe!!??  I think the Queen would look so cute with her feet up on one of my footstools, but I’ll have to let you all know later if it was her or not!

In a Pinch!

Just finishing up a few new pincushions this weekend.  I love have some ready for a last minute gift!  But I also LOVE thinking ahead and putting together fabric collections for specific people.  Greens for Cheri, polka dots for Ellie, plaids for Jenn.  Then there’s the fun of choosing the buttons to complete the mood, or punch up the personality.  I always have the kits available here on my SHOP page!  When you’re finished with yours, be sure to send a pic, seeing your fabric collection is a highlight of my day!

Shipping Multiples!

Lots of you have asked about getting more than one pincushion kit at a time, and bundling them together to save shipping!  YES! That’s exactly what I do!  Send me an email: (see my contact info at left)  with your request, I’ll ship them out in bundles and can easily bill you through PayPal.

These are a fast and fun project, make great gifts, and there’s still PLENTY of time before Christmas to make a few for your quilting buddies!

Aaaand, New Jersey is in the lead!

Just an update on Pincushion orders!  Yes, Virginia was at the front of the race, but holding steady wasn’t enough and New Jersey has taken the lead!  Oklahoma, North Carolina, Connecticut, and Massachusetts are showing well!  Thanks to my recent article in Quilts and More, I appreciate all of you checking out my site, and my shop page.  Be sure to contact me directly if you need more, as I can save you some shipping costs by bundling multiples together!

In the meantime, I felt like I just HAD to finish something and didn’t have a project even close, but LOTS needing more hands-on time than is possible with my regular job, home responsibilities and a holiday looming LARGE.  So!  Since I needed to test the pattern for a Christmas project, I was able to put together a fun 24″ x 42″ table runner on Sunday.  Now, don’t get me wrong, it’s not quilted yet, but I’m looking forward to that since there is a lot of background negative space where the quilting will show nicely.  More later when I get to that!  This is a project I’m preparing for P&B Textiles, one of the many fun patterns they give away on their web site!

“Mini-Me”! Color Wheel Pincushion!

No slides are available.SWEEEEET!  You’re gonna love this pincushion!  It’s been so fun to design and make, I’ve made a few already with a variety of fabric collections.  It hardly takes any fabric at all, and goes together so fast.  Make it today, use it tonight!  You’ve seen my big footstool, and this is the “mini-me” version in a 4″ diameter!  Perfect for treating yourself, or for gifts.  I’ve been able to pull together a kit which includes the foam, crushed walnut shells, tufting cord, felt, instructions and the plywood base with hardware to install your purchased feet.  All you add is the fabric and feet!  What could be easier!  I think I’ll make a truck-load of these, just for the fun of it!  When you orderyours, I’ll send it out the next day!
